Candela Peru means “Alternative Trade of Non Traditional Products and Development for Latin America – Peru”. We are an alternative trading organization (ATO) from the south founded in 1989.
Our work is guided by the Code of Ethics of the International Federation of Alternative Trade – IFAT.
Alternative Trade, also known as Ethic Trade or Fair Trade, means a commercial exchange what incorporates compounds of justice, solidarity and reciprocity between the players of the production and trading chain of the products. Candela Peru is based on the ethic code of the International Federation of Alternative Trade (IFAT), from which we are active members since 1991. We are also registered in FLO (Fair Trade Labelling Organization) since 2004. Its part of a worldwide network of Fair Trade organizations actively involved in supporting producers, awareness raising and campaigning for changes in the rules and practices of conventional international trade.
